We read of one of the mind activation of Jesus in Luke 12:35-38. Jesus said, "Let you waist be girded and your lamps burning: The minds activation in preparation of the master's
return.
This refers to an image taken from the way the Israelites ate their Passover, with the loose outer robe girded up about the waist with a girdle, as ready for a journey. So they girded themselves up, both to shorten the garment as not to impede motion, and to gird up the body itself as to be ready for action. The believer is to have his mind (mental powers) collected and always ready for Christ's return
Gather In The Strength of Your Spirit [Hensler]
Sobriety, that is, spiritual self restraint, less one be overcome by the allurements of the world and sense, and patient hopeful waiting for Christ's revelation, are the true ways of "girding up the loins of the mind." 1 Peter 1 vs 13
We are told to, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus; Phllippians 2 vs 5. Within this encouragement lies the activated Christ-like mind. In other words, it is obtainable, it is allowable and it is desirable. When Paul wrote to the Philippians, telling them the availability of having the mind of Christ, he reminded them that they need to set their minds on things that are above and not beneath. Because he was aware that they priced their Roman citizenship.
The activated Christ-like mind is actively at work within us.
We need to understand that Paul wrote to a certain group of Philippians, those who accepted Paul's preaching of the Gospel, the good news.
It was in Caesarea Philippi that Jesus asked His disciples, and Peter's declaration and acceptance of Christ the Messiah. Jesus has asked this question of them in the backdrop, of Him being a homeless person with twelve ordinary men with Him. The Jewish leaders were already plotting and planning to destroy Him as a dangerous heretic. He was standing in an area that was littered with temples of Syrian gods. In Caeserea Philippi, King Herod The Great had built a great temple of white marble to the godhead of Caesar. In the Hellenistic period a sanctuary was built to Pan. The cult of Pan originated in Arcadia, a pastoral region in Greece. Greek travellers , finding the landscape was like their homeland, established the area of worship to Pan. In Caesarea Philippi were a mixture of nationalities, the Greeks, Israelis, and Romans, who accepted the Hellenistic cultures. Amongst these people were those who accepted Paul message ,The Pauline Teachings, as apposing The Petrine Teaching.
For these men and woman having accepted Paul teachings was a great challenge, a greater challenge was even to uphold that type of lifestyle amidst so much splendour.
That's why they needed an activated Christ-like mind actively at work within them, So do we need to come to the realisation of what is most important in our walk with Christ Jesus.
