By what truth had Adam and Eve been lured? It was a counterfeit truth. It was promised them; Gen.3:4,5;
1) You will not surely die; A promise of eternal life? Or eternal death?
2) You will be like God; Your eyes will be opened, you will know good and evil.
God says, Don't do anything, just believe and you will not die.
Counterfeit says. Do something and you will not surely die.
God says, Let us make man in Our own image. It was God's idea for us to be like God.
Counterfeit says, Again do something, Eat, and your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.
Going the counterfeit way is a sure separation from God. It is a not 'knowing God, but knowing about about'. It's a not having a relationship with God, but having a religious, longdistance relationship with God. You know for yourself if you have a religious, longdistance relationship with God.
God's desire of us, is to draw near to Him.
James 4 [NKJV] Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Basically, you choose how much of God you want in your life. God is more than eager to draw close to you as you will let Him. The problem is that some people are afraid to let God get close because they are afraid He will make changes. They are right, Holy Spirit will make changes when we allow God to get close to us. But all those changes are for the better.
Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts, "Return to Me, Says the Lord of hosts,"and I will return to you," says the Lord of hosts.
