- I AM -
by ~Romeo Mannel~

John 6 vs 48;

Jesus rang out these words,

Moses asked of God, Exodus 3 sv13 ...,"What is His name?" What shall I say to them?"  vs 14) And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM," Thus you shall say to the Children of Israel,' I AM has sent me to you.

The family of Abraham grew from seventy to over three million, a nation of people unorganised and enslaved in Egypt. But God hears their cries for freedom from their cruel oppression of their Egyptian task masters, and calls Moses to lead them out of bondage.

Moses requested this of God, because he was aware of the influence the gods of the Egyptians had on the Israelites. For that reason he had to direct them to something which they can identify with. We have to take into consideration that the Egyptians had many gods.

The ancient Egyptians worshipped many more gods and goddesses. It was not a matter of people believing in different gods were different groups, they believed in all these gods

The family of Abraham grew from seventy to over three million, a nation of people unorganised and enslaved in Egypt. But God hears their cries for freedom from their cruel oppression of their Egyptian task masters, and calls Moses to lead them out of bondage. After four hundred years after the death of Joseph the Children of Israel was now seeking a way out of their situation.
In that time they grew accustom to the life-style of the Egyptians. A large amount them even took on the Egyptian's gods and their practices, in order maybe to have a much easier life.
Moses was aware of this and had to clearly distinct which god has sent him. Even Moses who grew up as an Egyptian, and also believed in all of these gods and the practices of the Egyptians.

Moses became very concern about the way the Children of Israel was so badly treated, that at one point he killed one of the guards who mistreated an Israelite, and had to flee from Egypt.

One can almost say that Moses lived in the same situation as Jesus was living. In Jesus' time it was the Hellenistic Believe System dynasty, that was introduced by Alexander the Great, which had a tremendous influence on the believe system of the Israelites. That many of the affluent Jews started believing in the Hellenistic Believe system and even formulated their own believe within the Hellenistic theology.

Now God brought the Children of Israel up out of Egypt into the wilderness.
