Wait is always accompanied by patience, I patiently waited, therefore patience is a metaphor for wait. To wait on the Lord is then enhanced, strengthen by patience. Waiting is intensified, increased, by the expectation of things hoped for. When things are being promised, there is an invisible string, or a rope, or even a chain, attached to what is being promised, Though we may not be fully aware that we holding onto that string, we subconsciously do so, hoping that the promise will be kept.
Waiting on the Lord is a sure thing. Thats why the Psalmist encourages us to be of good courage, we like to add to that, do not loose heart. So the verse continues , He will strengthen your heart.
Isaiah 40:31;
But those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles,They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
