Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Ephesians 5 [NKJV]
The best way; Or is it the only way? To imitate God, Is To Walk In Love.
From time to time, people even have a yearly program, when they decide to sacrifice certain things of their daily enjoyment. Some 'Churches' have it in their annual planning of their Church's program and their adherents must, and they gladly do, adhere to these requirements.
I don't say that we should not sacrifice, it is a good thing. God would love all to make sacrifices. Just as Christ Jesus sacrificed Himself, we sacrifice ourself as we walk in love.
God gave the Israelites specific instructions of how, when, what, why and where to make their sacrifices. With all the different types of sacrifices, even though it seemed a massive task, there were always the leadership on hand to help with the sacrifice. With most the sacrificing there were always a certain feast celebration.
Walking in love daily, we celebrate Gods love for us on a daily bases. At the same time we offering a sacrifice to God, Luke 6 vs 36: "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Ephesians 4 vs 32: And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. There is no law against these. By doing these in abundance, people are drawn to God through you to the glory of God, because it is a sacrifice to God.
John 15 vs 13."Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. Galations 1 vs 4; 1 John 3 vs 16;
These and many more scripture verses indicate to us the importance of our walk in love as a sacrifice we have to offer. We can allow the fire of Gods love to burn within us to the extend that all the uncleaness is consumed and all that remains will become the sweet-smelling aroma that God desires.
Be Imitaters of God.
