In every law there is a requirement. It is set boundaries. We even have these in our homes.
To Walk according the flesh we are not able to do the righteous requirements of the law.
It is a great struggle and a fight to not break the law.
Here we are faced with two 'not's'.
What we then do! We work our way around the righteousness think. We find ways to accommodate our own life-style in our own self-righteousness. The breaking of the law is also part of our life-style 'hey we only human'. Self-righteousness and being only human is a package we cannot live without. In fact, it gets preached from our pulpits.Now that is when we live according to the flesh.
Let me repeat what this verse is blurting out, and in my own way try and do the same.
THAT THE "RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS !!!" OF THE LAW
MIGHT BE "FULFILLED IN" US,....Who walk according to the Spirit.To walk according the Spirit, you must be born of the Spirit.Being born of the Spirit, you are being forgiven of your sins. You are being set free from the the power of the sinful nature. Jesus has utterly destroyed sin in the flesh so that we don't have to live and walk in the flesh.
Here I'm saying it again, the righteous requirements of the law is being fulfilled in us.
